The 82-person unit were to relieve part of the team that has been carrying out rescue and recovery tasks since the disaster struck. They team travelled on several boats and in total the Balearic Islands now has 91 personnel available in the area of ​​operations for the next few days.

Since they arrived the first Balearic human and technical team, sent by the Government and managed by the General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior, in constant coordination with services in Valencia, has been working tirelessly in the towns of Alfafar and Sedaví, two of the towns most affected by DANA and the subsequent floods. The new team that arrived this past week relieved personnel and brought more equipment to deal with the task at hand.

From Mallorca, there are

15 volunteers from the Civil Protection groups of Ferreries (4), Santa Eulàlia (4), Vilafranca (3) and Montuïri (4).

4 firefighters from Palma, plus 8 who are already there and staying.

20 firefighters from Mallorca.

18 IBANAT technicians and Environmental agents.

5 SAMU061 technicians and doctors.

4 technicians from the DG d’Emergències, plus 1 who is already there and is staying.

1 psychologist.

2 communications technicians from the Sampol company that provides services for IBdigital.

In terms of material resources, the shipment contains:

19 vehicles.

16 light SUVs.

1 workshop truck.

1 minibus.

1 van with trailer with the tetra communications repeater station (IBdigital).

Provisioning for the personnel of the same contingent.

They left for the mainland on three boats from Balearia.

The general directorate of Emergencies and Interior is coordinating the relief groups and it’s likely that the Balearics will send one more contingent to Valencia in the next week.
