I think everyone can agree when we say global warming has and continues to be a rising issue. With the human race producing more than 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste every year, and this figure is expected to grow significantly as populations and consumption increase. Which is why I can say with 100% certainty that introducing an organic bin in to Pollenca door-to-door collection is something I fully support.
It was announced just two weeks ago that as of the 15th of June 2026, the calendars that have been in place for door-to-door collection for the last few years will be changed to incorporate organic waste collection 4 times a week!
What we throw away doesnt disappear but with over 80% of household waste being organic produce, we can make a huge change by recycling this and reducing our footprint massively.
Emser have been stationed at the Cloister gardens this week and will continue into the next giving all homeowners and renters new organic waste bins as well as a recycling bin. These will be placed outside your homes on the corresponding days and collected.
Seriously, its as easy as that …

By separating food scraps and garden waste, residents can help reduce landfill, cut greenhouse gas emissions, and create valuable compost that enriches our soil. Small changes in how we dispose of organic materials can make a big difference to the environment and help keep Pollença clean and sustainable.

Next, be sure to collect your free new bins to be part of this, or get used to driving your bins out of town, because if you dont have the bins you can forget about the door-to-door collection. All you need is your identification card/number that is connected to the property or the NIE/DNI of the landlord if you are a renter.
Lastly, give yourself and your neighbours a pat on the back, because even if it doesnt feel like much you are making a huge difference.
