If you’re hoping to visit the iconic Formentor Lighthouse this summer (made famous by so many adverts and images) be aware that seasonal traffic restrictions will be in force to limit the number of vehicles and visitors and so protect the environment of the Serra de Tramuntana (UNESCO World Heritage Site)
In short, between 15th May 2026 and 15th October 2026 access via the Ma-2210 road will be restricted between 10a.m. and 10p.m. Outside of these dates, the road is open to all vehicles as usual. Unauthorised access results in automatic fines of €200! enforced by traffic cameras.
There are 2 separate “zones” and the rules are slightly different for each one.
Zone One
The first “zone” is the Formentor Beach Section of the road (km 2 → km 8.7) which allows limited access to private cars and motorcycles until all of the authorized parking spaces are full, at which time only buses, taxis, cyclists, and authorised vehicles may continue.
Zone Two
The second zone is the Formentor Lighthouse Section (km 8.7 → km 19.6) and here absolutely no private cars or motorcycles are allowed between 10:00 and 22:00. If you enter before 10:00 a.m., you must leave by 9:59 a.m.
So how can you visit Formentor lighthouse during the restricted hours?
You can access Formentor Via:
Public transport (TIB Bus Line 334) stopping at Mirador de Es Colomer, Formentor Beach, Cala Figuera / Cala Murta, Formentor Lighthouse (Full timetable & prices: www.tib.org
If you are arriving to Port Pollença by car, you must park before the restricted area begins. Parking is available along the Port de Pollença ring road service lanes, near the two bus stops: Port de Pollença (42051) Can Singala (42055) and take the bus from there.
Get A Taxi: Taxis may go to the beach and the lighthouse.
Private hire vehicles (VTC) such as uber/bolt etc can go as far as Formentor Beach.
Cyclists and Hikers are always allowed.
Access with prior authorization is available to Residents of the restricted area, Vehicles carrying people with reduced mobility. Those eligible for access must request permission at least 3 working days in advance via email: formentor@dgt.es
