The Consell de Mallorca is inviting companies to submit their tender for the project and the direction of the decontamination works of the old thermal power station of Alcanada. Interested companies have until March 5 to submit their projects, following the technical specifications that have been published.
This tender process will allow for essential work to be carried out for the environmental and heritage recovery of the site, which has been declared a site of cultural interest (BIC). The Minister of the Presidency, Antoni Fuster, has stressed that “this progress represents the beginning of a new phase for the Alcanada thermal power station. These are the first real actions aimed at its decontamination and at guaranteeing the viability of a new project.
The decontamination of the old thermal power station is highly complex and will allow compliance with the legal and environmental standards required for the recovery of the environment. The project is co-financed by the European Just Transition Fund (FTJ) (to find out what that is click here).
