Carnaval - Alcudia

The town’s annual Carnival street parade and celebration, part of the traditional festivities before Lent begins. It typically takes place in late February or early March, with the main event starting in the historic old town around mid-afternoon. Participants gather in costume at a meeting point (often the church car park) and then march through the streets with parades, music and colourful outfits.

The carnival, known locally as Carnestoltes, is a festive occasion for both locals and visitors, encouraging everyone to wear costumes and enjoy the spirit of fun and community. It includes lively entertainment, music and often animation provided by local performance groups.

Like many Mallorcan carnival traditions, Sa Rua brings colour, creativity and celebration to Alcúdia’s historic streets as part of the wider island-wide Carnival season.

With two categories the competition begins in Bonaire, with many people parading the streets. To take part there is a 20 euro deposit needed and registration to take part ends on the 6th of February.
