About the Exhibition
“Inside Out” (Des de l’Envés) invites visitors into the creative and personal universe of artist Joan March through a series of works that dialogue with the spaces of the Dionís Bennàssar Museum.
About the Artist
Joan March began his artistic career at twenty, largely self-taught while training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Palma and completing his apprenticeship at Galeria Norai—a gathering place for artists including Jaume Plensa and Manolo Monpó. His work spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and printmaking.
March’s creative universe inhabits surrealist territory, building a personal iconography populated with animals, figures, and symbolism-laden forms. Humour and irony are recurring resources in work that resists immediate interpretation and invites viewers to discover multiple meanings.
His paintings originate in the artist’s inner world, exploring the boundary between reality and imagination. Nothing is quite as it seems: behind each image lies a possible reading, a mystery, or a metaphor. Through this personal language, Joan March seeks to move beyond visual impact and provoke an experience that lingers in the viewer’s memory.
