Some of the smaller markets are really there to cater to the local population and mostly offer the basics – fruits, vegetables, maybe a cheese stall or cured meats, along with dried goods, vegetable plants and household items. These markets are usually to be found in the main square of the village in question. Whilst others have developed into much larger sprawling affairs, spilling out into the surrounding streets and offering more choice and variety; they might include bakery and speciality food stalls with others selling clothes, souvenirs, art, jewellery, novelty items or handmade soaps and natural skincare products made from local herbs and flowers.
These markets have an almost carnival atmosphere and are the perfect place to sit and enjoy a coffee and a pastry or a glass of wine with some local cheese and olives.
The largest weekly street markets in the North of Mallorca are to be found in Alcudia town, Pollenca town and Sa Pobla, with smaller ones in Muro, Campanet, Llubi, Santa Margalida, Caimari, Can Picafort and Buger
If you’re willing to travel a little further away, then a trip to the market at Sineu, Inca or Arta is highly recommended. Sineu market has the feeling of an agricultural fair with tools, equipment and livestock for sale, whilst Inca market is huge and varied and is a showcase for the island’s artisan leather industry.
Markets in Mallorca usually begin around 9 a.m. and finish between 1 and 2 p.m. It’s best to arrive early in order to find parking and before they get too busy.

Other Markets to Keep an Eye Out For:
In the summer months look out for the appearance of open air “night markets” selling mostly handmade goods, ceramics, art, jewellery and souvenirs. These are different from the usual Mallorca market days and they are mostly found on the promenades by the sea in coastal areas including Puerto Alcudia, Playa de Muro, Puerto Pollensa, Can Picafort and Cala Rajada.
