New rules to allow pets to travel on T.I.B. buses
Will come into force on Sunday 7th June, provided that they do not cause inconvenience to other passengers and are in a secure carrier of the correct size – as detailed on the poster below. Previously only assistance animals were allowed. T.I.B run the red and yellow inter-town buses.
Assistance animals are still allowed without a carrier. The new rules also state that the carrier must be kept on the knees or at the feet of the passenger and not on a seat. Animals now allowed to travel with their owners include, dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, & non agricultural birds; however reptiles, spiders and insects are still excluded.
Getting around by Bus in Northern Mallorca
Exploring the North of Mallorca by public bus is very easy and quite cheap. There are different ways of buying your tickets. A last-minute ticket bought with cash from the driver on the bus is discouraged. It takes up valuable time and the price is set highto discourage you from using this method.
Instead, the best way is to tap your bank card on the terminal as you board and again as you get off the bus. For example, last year, catching the bus from Alcudia to Pollensa, would cost you €2.70 using your bank card. However, If you paid the driver in cash, it would cost €4.50.
The airport route is pricier, Alcudia to the airport costs €8.10 paying with your bank card. Buying your ticket from the driver is €13.50.
For buses with long-distance destinations, i.e. buses into Palma or to the airport; you won’t be able to board these for short distance trips.
For example, in Puerto Pollensa you cannot board the 301 (which goes all the way to Palma) to get to Pollensa. You will need to get the smaller local bus for that – the 322.
In the summer months, timetables are mostlythe same every day of the week. In the quieter months, make sure you check for weekends & holiday schedules which may differ to weekday schedules.
