Originally a small fishing village for the inland town of Pollensa, the port gained popularity with artists, writers and travellers in the early 1900’s, with the first hotel established in 1912.
During the Spanish civil war, a seaplane base was established in the port and today it is home to the famous yellow fire-fighting planes.
The port area continued to develop and is now predominantly known as an upmarket and relaxed tourist resort.

Puerto Pollensa is easily accessible by car from Palma De Mallorca International airport. There is a good quality motorway for the majority of the route and the drive will take about1 hour up the MA13. Alternatively take the bus from Central Palma which takes between 1 and 2 hours depending on the specific route. Alternatively you can catch a ferry to Alcudia from other Balearic Islands, Barcelona or Toulon in France, and then take a bus, taxi or hire a car.
