The Council of Mallorca and the Bishopric of Mallorca, through the Joint Commission, will allocate part of the €955,000 cultural heritage restoration program to the Sanctuary of Puig de Maria in Pollença. This project is part of a series of 22 projects spread across 15 municipalities with the aim of preserving and recovering heritage elements of high historical and cultural value.
Puig de Maria will benefit from this conservation initiative, ensuring the protection and enhancement of a space of great historical, cultural, and spiritual significance for the municipality. The specific details of the intervention have not yet been finalized, but its inclusion in this plan guarantees its long-term preservation.
Of the total €955,000 investment, €558,000 will be allocated to the restoration of properties owned by the church. This includes the Puig de Maria sanctuary, as well as other notable elements such as the façade of the Church of San Francisco in Palma and the roof of the Church of Santa Eugenia. The remaining budget will be shared between other renovation projects and digitisation of heritage documents.
This restoration plan, promoted by the Joint Commission, will benefit a total of 15 municipalities in Mallorca: Palma, Selva, Búger, Santa Eugenia, Sóller, Felanitx, Capdepera, Sencelles, Petra, Montuïri, Alaró, Sa Pobla, Pollensa, Santa Margalida, and Valldemossa.
