Councillor Mateo conveys the desire to reach maximum consensus on the future Alcúdia trainline in a meeting with Sa Pobla's mayor and other group representatives.
The Minister for Housing, Territory and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, has called a meeting this Thursday to meet with the mayor of Sa Pobla, Biel Ferragut, and the spokespeople and councillors of all the municipal groups of the Sa Pobla City Council, to discuss the project to extend the Sa Pobla-Alcudia trainline, which is currently on public display.
Mateo, accompanied by the general director of Mobility, Lorena del Valle, and technical staff from the department, conveyed to the municipal representatives of Sa Pobla the Government’s desire to reach “maximum consensus” on the route of the future line, “as we have done from the beginning, working and sharing information with the town councils before approving the informative study that is now on public display and looking for the best possible alternative”, he recalled.
“We want to opt for the technically viable option that generates the greatest social consensus. The informative study has been initially approved, where several alternatives are analyzed, and we are in the public exhibition and presentation of allegations phase, in which modifications to the route can be incorporated”, explained Mateo. He added: “We are looking for the general interest and we all want the best option to expand the railway network, to bring the train to the Port of Alcúdia, and move towards a more sustainable mobility model and decongestion of the roads”.
The Government, as he recalled, has been “open from day one to listening to and analyzing proposals”, and for this reason the Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility and Railway Services of Mallorca have initiated a round of meetings with political representatives and social and professional entities, which was already planned in this phase of the process, and which will soon include informative talks open to the public in Sa Pobla and Alcúdia, among others.
The meeting convened by councilor José Luis Mateo was attended by the mayor of Sa Pobla, Biel Ferragut, and the spokespeople and councilors of the different municipal political groups of the town council: Magdalena De la Fuente (Independents for Sa Pobla), Pedrona Seguà (PP), Antoni Simó (Més), Xesca Mir (PSIB-PSOE), Joan Pérez (El Pi) and Roberto Vicente (Vox).
