How is the Grape harvest in 2026?
September heralds the final weeks of the grape harvest and this year has produced a bumper crop. The 2026 harvest began at least 2 weeks early back in July, with the season’s high temperatures and a wet spring cited as the reasons for the quality & quantity of the crop.

The high temperatures are also believed to have helped limit fungal growth, producing healthier bunches than in some years.

The first grapes brought to the wineries are mainly Chardonnay, Giró Ros, and Sauvignon blanc, followed by Malvasia, Merlot, and Syrah. The latter, thanks to its early ripening, is also used to complete rosé production.

Attention then shifts to red varieties, which require more advanced ripening both in terms of alcohol and aromatics. The behavior of Prensal blanc, a widely planted local variety with later ripening, is also highly anticipated.

So it looks like there should be some great quality wines coming in the next couple of years.
