Things to do in Mallorca
Things to do in Mallorca on the sea
  1. Nature Park of Cala Mondrago. Nestled on the picturesque southeast coast, Cala Mondrago is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and pristine white sands, offering an idyllic paradise for both sunbathers and swimmers alike. It may be a bit of a trek if you’re holidaying in the north, but this stunning natural reserve does not disappoint. Just be sure to get there early so you can enjoy it before the hoards of people arrive.
  2. Scuba diving in the Marine Reserves. There are many underwater gems to discover and a number of reputable scuba companies operating in the north. For beginners, a Try Dive near the shoreline is a great family or first-timer option. For the more experienced divers, the waters off of Formentor and Cala Sant Vicente are a playground of caves, arches, tunnels, and even a wreck waiting for you to explore.
  3. Sailing around the Coast. Probably the best way to see the island is from the sea itself. Add to that, getting off the beach and enjoying your own space on the water has to be the best way to beat the crowds. Boat rentals without a need for a licence are available in Puerto Pollensa and Puerto Alcudia, or if you prefer to fully relax, enjoy a day, half day, sunrise or sunset cruise on one of the many charter boats in the area.
  4. Paddleboarding. The Bays of Pollensa and Alcudia can be perfect for paddleboarding. Go early enough and the sea is beautiful and calm. Exploring the stunning coves and coastal caves will keep you busy until well into lunchtime.

Things to do in Mallorca - Catch the Demonis
  1. Check out Palma Cathedral. Every trip to Mallorca means a day trip to beautiful Palma. And a day in Palma – at least your first ever – is not complete without taking in the Cathedral. A majestic masterpiece of Gothic architecture, Palma Cathedral’s towering spires and intricate façades provide the wow factor, while the 14m Rose Window and its magical play of light within is truly impressive. This iconic landmark not only dominates the city’s skyline but also embodies centuries of history, art, and devotion, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring the island. If you happen to be visiting in February or November, the cathedral offers a spectacular natural light show.
  2. Walking Tours of the Old Towns in the north. Both Pollensa and Alcudia are superb locations for walking tours. In Pollensa the sites include the main square and the Cloisters, above all though is the 365 Calvario Steps that take you to the very top providing views over the whole of the town and onto the coast taking in the two bays. Alcudia, an old Roman Town has ancient walls that you can walk along and step right back in history.
  3. Fiesta! The cultural calendar in the north of Mallorca is full of fiestas, some that will knock your socks off such as the Patrona Fiesta in Pollensa on August 2nd and the running with fire (Correfoc) for the Virgen del Carmen fiesta in Puerto Pollensa in the middle of July. While others are a bit calmer but no less culturally significant, such as the Pollensa Festival with classical music from around the world, held during the month of August. THings to do in Mallorca: Hiking Mallorca and the GR221
Signpost along the GR221, one of the most popular routes for Hiking in Mallorca
  1. Hiking the Tramuntana Mountains. In the summer months it can get too hot but with shade, a walk up in the hills where you can catch a breeze could be just what you need. There are many routes you can take, starting in Lluc where there is a pool to enjoy as well. See more about hiking the Tramuntana in these blogs:

  2. Cycling tours through Mallorca’s Villages. A spin on a road bike might be a bit much in the heat of the summer months but, if this is your cup of tea, set off early in the morning. Otherwise, renting a bike – normal or electric – and touring the north of the island will reward you with some stunning scenery and villages that you might not have even noticed if you stayed in the car, or in your holiday home.
The north has plenty of bike hire places, check out Mallorca Bike Hire. They have great rental bikes on offer and all the information on the best bike routes on the island.
  3. Hot Air Balloon Ride. There is one company operating balloon rides from Manacor (Mallorca Balloons). For a special occasion (or maybe just being on holiday in Mallorca is special enough), there can’t be a better way to see this beautiful island.

Things to Do In Mallorca: Gastronomy

THings to do in Mallorca: Gastronomy local food
  1. Wine Tasting. Vineyards are everywhere in Mallorca. The island’s terroir is ideal for vines and new wineries are popping up all the time with interesting wines. Luckily, many wineries hold regular tastings and tours. There are a few wine tasting tour companies who can organise your wine adventure, there is an annual wine fair in Pollensa usually in April/May or you could also contact wineries yourself, there may be open days or tours by appointment.
You can also have a tasting in the comfort of your own Holiday villa/home with Wine Tasting Mallorca.
  2. Cooking Class. If you love your Spanish food then why not learn how to recreate it once you’re back home? Palma and Soller both have some great gastronomic centres with a class/restaurant set-up. If you’re holidaying in the north then you can easily combine a day-trip with class and dinner!
  3. Beach Club. There are plenty in the south in Palma and its surroundings, but the beach club culture is beginning to land in the North too. While Ponderosa and Can Gavella are stalwarts in the on-sand DJ and Dining scene in the north, the new Nu Mallorca further along the Playa de Muro is North Mallorca’s latest go-to. Mix some Ibiza vibes into your Mallorca holiday.

Things to do in Mallorca: Relaxation and Wellness

Things to do in Mallorca: Yoga
  1. Spa Day. Unsurprisingly the area is loaded with luxury hotels, within them is nearly always a spa and it is sometimes possible (normally in the off-peak seasons) to visit as a non-staying guest enjoy a treatment and a day-pass to the facilities. With breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea as a side offering, this is perfect if switching off and relaxing is up there in your priorities.
Check out Son Brull Hotel & Spa in Pollensa Town.
  2. Yoga. The north of Mallorca is somewhat of a mecca for yoga teachers which means classes abound, whether it’s on the beach at sunrise, on a paddleboard on the sea or in your own holiday villa the options are varied. For the whole shebang, try a yoga retreat such as La Serrania in Campanet.

Things to Do in Mallorca: Family Fun

things to do in Mallorca waterpark
  1. Indoor Activities. Sometimes the kids need a break from the sun. Being hot all the time is fun for no one. So beat the ratty-ness and look inside. At the Mallorca Fashion Outlet (formerly Festival Park) a retail park on the motorway to Palma, there is a cinema with the odd showing in English. There is also the Monkey Park for the younger ones. For teens, try the electric cart racing – eKart – where an hour around the 400m circuit will keep them busy. Further south near Magaluf is the Aquarium which never disappoints.
  2. Waterpark. In the north, the Hidropark serves kids of all ages. The big daddy on the island is Western Park in Magaluf. Full of rides, relaxing sunlounger space on the lawn and restaurants, this waterpark guarantees a full day of fun.
  3. Caves of Mallorca. Another opportunity to escape the heat, a walk into one of Mallorca’s underground gems is definitely something to experience. In the north, the Caves in Campanet are large and impressive. For a full day-trip from the North, the Caves de Drach are incredible. Once inside you are treated to a classical concert by musicians passing along the huge lake in a little rowboat.

Things to Do in Mallorca: Shopping & Nightlife

THings to do in Mallorca - go shopping in Palma
  1. Shopping in Palma. As in all cities, there are different parts of town, but you could just about squeeze the main ones into one day. Head to El Borne and then to Plaza Major where there are plenty of boutiques and all the international brands. There is also the huge department store, El Corte Ingles, but beware this could just take up an afternoon.
  2. Nightlife. Restaurants and bars, especially in the summer months, are buzzing until late. After dinner, Alcudia is home to the most popular nightclubs, for those inclined. If that’s not your bag, worry not, with the busy summer-time fiesta programmes in towns all over North Mallorca, the chances are there will be a party with DJs and bars in a local square somewhere. See our events pages to keep up to date.
