Readers of TOTN may remember news of the posidonia fields that were being replanted in the Bay of Pollensa in 2018. It turns out that they were a success and last week and new projects have been announced.
Organisers Redeia and Ecomar held a seminar at the Military Aerodrome in Puerto Pollensa. Local councillor of Environment and Badia, Steffy Pozo, and the mayor of Pollensa, Martí March were in attendance. During the presentation, it was announced that the restoration of Posidonia meadows which started in 2018 in Pollensa has achieved successful results.
Based on this, the same model will be implemented in other areas of the Mediterranean, starting with Valencia. The creation of this Marine Forest platform means that there will be greater coordination in projects to promote the restoration of marine ecosystems up to 2030.
In his speech to the seminar, the mayor of Pollensa reported that during this legislature there will be work on three areas to improve the Bay of Pollensa: the sewerage system, the treatment plant and the reorganization of drainage.
