Alcudia News: Coldplay Tribute Band End the Sant Jaume Fiesta
The municipal band of Alcudia joined a tribute Coldplay band – Coldday – on the stage on the 25th July to bring the annual Sant Jaume fiesta to an end. The annual concert was held at the Plaza de Carlos V just before the fireworks and drew in a crowd of about 4000 people.
With more than 60 musicians on stage accompanied by stunning lighting effects, and a giant screen, the audience were treated to more than 20 songs by the British band Coldplay. Alongside Alcudia’s resident population, there were many tourists in the audience.
This annual concert by the municipal band brings an ever increasing crowd, the numbers grow year on year. This year’s concert brought 4,000.
The band, under direction of Jaume Garcia Serra, has dedicated its concerts on July 25 to various musical themes, with established musicians and singers, such as the musical Les Misérables, the Lion King, the tribute to Queen, Abba, among others.
In the 2024 edition, Jaume Garcia received recognition from the Alcudia Council for his 20th anniversary as director of the band at the end of the concert from both the Mayor of Alcudia, Fina Linares, and the Councillor for Culture and Festivals, Àngela Amer.
