Strange weather for July

Strange Weather in Mallorca for July

July is not looking like it should in the Balearic Islands. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) indicates a complicated start to the week, with a yellow alert for heavy rain in Mallorca, Ibiza and Formentera. There are also rissagas expected – one hit Puerto Pollensa around 8am, measuring 60cm.

Rissagas, or meteotsunami, is a coastal weather phenomenon that causes abrupt and significant variations in sea level

The cloudy skies are those of the dreaded suspended dust, and weak and scattered mud rains are expected throughout the morning. As the day progresses, these precipitations may be locally strong and accompanied by storms, without ruling out hail. From 12:00 to 18:00, the yellow alert will remain activated for rain in Mallorca and Ibiza, which may leave up to 20 liters per square meter in one hour. As of 6:00 p.m., the situation will begin to stabilize, according to the Aemet forecast.
