Alcúdia Ràdio celebrated its 34th anniversary last week, the best way it knows how: with the public, on the streets, and "giving a voice to diversity."
To commemorate the Radio’s anniversary and as part of the St. Pere Fiesta, a new edition of the community LGBTQ+ Diversity Walk was organized, under the slogan “One step, a thousand colours.”
The day began at Clot beach, the starting point of the route, which continued with the gathering of marchers at emblematic points such as Plaça Carles V and Carrer dels Pins, and ended at Plaça Varador in Port de Alcúdia.
One of the highlights of the event was the reading of the diversity manifesto by writer Guillem Florit, a symbolic act of support and awareness of the LGBTQI+ community, in line with the values of inclusion, respect, and coexistence promoted by the Alcudia City Council.
The celebration ended with a very special welcome from the Alcudia Giants who danced and did their thing as the walkers arrived — a gesture of brotherhood between tradition and vindication.
Mayor Fina Linares, Councilor for Culture and Festivals, along with members of the council, joined the event and emphasized the importance of continuing to take collective steps toward a more open, free, and respectful society for all identities.
This celebration was much more than a birthday. It was a call to walk together, to take steps toward a more just and diverse society.
Alcúdia Ràdio invited all citizens to join in this special day, to build community, and to celebrate more than three decades of sharing voice, culture, and commitment. Bravo!
