Thousands of walkers arrive in Lluc in the first Pujada a Peu organized by the Consell de Mallorca
The night walk to Lluc concluded last Sunday morning with the arrival of thousands of people at the Lluc Sanctuary, after a successful event and a great atmosphere.
The president of the Consell de Mallorca himself walked the ‘Pujada a Peu a Lluc de la Part Forana’, and was put in charge of giving the starting signal from Inca, together with the Minister of the Presidency, Toni Fuster. It was the 44th edition.
Within the framework of Mallorca Day, the Pujada a Peu de la Part Forana was organized by, for the first time, by the Consell de Mallorca (with the collaboration of the Associació d’Antics Blauets de Lluc and the support of multiple institutions, voluntary and emergency services).
The response from the public was overwhelming, with nearly 5,000 participants from 45 municipalities on the island. All of them have taken the route to Lluc as an expression of faith, tradition, personal growth, or simply as a shared experience.
Upon arrival at the sanctuary, the pilgrims were greeted with hot chocolate and traditional mides (bread made by Mater’s workshop) as a sign of welcome and recognition of their efforts.
The day continued with a meeting of Giants and the institutional and religious welcoming ceremony, which included a welcome from the Association of the Ancient Blauets, offerings from the villages with palm branches and local produce, and a Mass presided over by the Bishop of Mallorca, accompanied by the Ancient Blauets Choir.
The Consell de Mallorca had a comprehensive security and coordination operation in place, involving more than 200 personnel, including emergency services, local police, health services, civil protection, and volunteers. Operations centres were established in Inca and Lluc, and a digital communications system was deployed to ensure coverage and monitoring of the entire route.
